A Recycler for Floyd County Solid Waste Department is responsible for hauling trash/recycled items and maintaining facilities.
DUTIES:
Collects and separates recyclable materials to maintain acceptable material quality.
Assists patrons, including providing instructions, demonstrations, pamphlets, and/or brochures.
Monitors drop-off sites to identify existing and potential problems. Resolves problems and/or notifies Crew Leader of needs.
Performs related duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
High school diploma or GED.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Ability to meet all employer and department hiring and retention requirements, including ability to pass drug test.
Working knowledge of and ability to make practical application of Department policies and procedures, warehouse operations and equipment, and safety techniques and skills.
Working knowledge of principles, practices, methods, and techniques relative to solid waste management and ability to apply these principles and procedures.
Working knowledge of hazardous materials and applicable federal, state, and local regulations concerning recycling operations and hazardous materials, and ability to provide safety information to general public.
Working knowledge of standard English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and ability to prepare correspondence and various detailed reports as required.
Ability to properly operate various hand and/or power tools in performance of duties, including, but not limited to, hammer, screw drivers, wrenches, drills, power saws, air nozzle and compressor, drivers, ratchet, gauges, steam cleaner, and broom.
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with co-workers and the public, including being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities, and disabilities.
Ability to competently serve the public with diplomacy and respect.
Ability to provide public access to, or maintain confidentiality of, department information and records according to state requirements.
Ability to comply with employer and department policies and work rules, including, but not limited to, attendance, safety, drug-free workplace, and personal conduct.
Ability to understand, memorize, retain, and carry out written and oral instructions and present findings in oral or written form.
Ability to work alone with minimum supervision, with others in a team environment, and work rapidly for long periods.
Ability to occasionally work evenings, extended hours, and weekends.
