Job Description As a Mechanical Engineer I, you will modify standardized motor designs to meet customer requirements using lean design principles and guidelines. The role requires a moderate level of electrical and/or mechanical motor design and analysis competency and a strong drive to learn, an enthusiasm to exceed customer expectations, and a persistence to solve complex technical challenges. Job Duties Creates or modifies mechanical designs of motors and mechanical parts to meet customer specifications, considering applicable lean design standards and guidelines. Creates or modifies electrical designs of motors and electrical parts to meet customer specifications, considering applicable lean design standards and guidelines. Reviews customer / project specifications as needed. Provides technical data on products to customers. Provides technical support and data to other business functions. Estimates and tracks time required to perform customer support activities. Follows company standards and procedures where they apply. Organizational Impact Works to achieve operational, functional, and/or business targets within the job area with indirect impact on departmental or job family results, using basic technical principles. Serves as an entry‑level technical contributor; follows standard processes and works under supervision. Failure to achieve results typically requires allocation of additional resources and may result in additional financial expense. Work is defined by others within smaller, less complex projects/assignments and generally more limited in scope. Communication & Influence Communicates with contacts typically within the team on matters that involve obtaining or providing information requiring some explanation or interpretation in order to reach agreement. Innovation & Complexity May be responsible for contributing to recommended enhancements in technical/business systems and processes to solve problems or improve effectiveness within the job area. Problems are routine, drawing from standard procedures and basic analysis, but may require interpretation or deviation from standard procedures. Knowledge & Experience Requires understanding of the basic context of the technical and business environment, typically obtained through advanced education. Might have limited to no experience.
