Job Description

We are seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist on behalf of a prominent private university located in Boston, MA. Reporting directly to the Controller, the Accounts Payable Specialist will oversee the full lifecycle of A/P operations across the institution. The ideal candidate serves as the university's functional subject matter expert in accounts payable-executing, managing, and continuously refining operations with a heavy focus on Workday systems, compliance, customer service, and process efficiency.

• Salary Range: $70,000 - $85,000 / year
• Work Schedule: Hybrid (2 days onsite in Boston; free on-campus parking provided)
• Target Start Date: August 31, 2026
• Reporting To: Controller
• Sponsorship: Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. The university is unable to sponsor H-1B visas for this role.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Core A/P Processing & Operations

• Match invoices to purchase orders and receipts; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
• Process supplier, employee, and stipends through ACH, check, wire transfer, and other approved methods.
• Review outstanding invoice requests and reimbursement transactions; proactively follow up on approval delay

Workday Accounts Payable Administration

• Serve as the primary Workday A/P functional expert by leading testing, implementation, and validation efforts for system enhancements and upgrades.
• Maintain supplier records, support supplier onboarding, and manage vendor tax documentation (Forms W-9).
• Coordinate annual Form 1099 review, validation, preparation, and filing.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience: Several years of progressively responsible Accounts Payable or general accounting experience.
• Systems: strong, hands-on proficiency in the Workday Accounts Payable module.
